Sometimes having the guy next door fix your car, just doesn’t pay off.
After inspecting the car, technicians at DJ Foreign Auto Care found that the fuel lines had been taped together with electrical tape and the fuel pump and wires were rewired directly to the ignition switch fuse relay and engine control module.
While at times a backyard mechanic, armed with a few tools, some electrical tape and a little good-old-fashioned ingenuity may work, in this case it didn’t. While the car never caught on fire, the technicians said it easily could have since the components involved included the control module, the fuel system and the electrical system. In other words, a good recipe for disaster.
